Hand Embroidery Artisan - Introduction to Hand Embroidery

Carryout printing with a block

Objective: At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• practice on printing with a block.

Requirements
Materials

• Thread - as reqd. • Cloth - as reqd.
• Hand needle - as reqd. • Ink for printing - as reqd.
• Wooden block (readymade) - as reqd.

PROCEDURE
Practice on printing with a block Fig 3

1 Spread the cloth on the table as shown in Fig 1.

4 Press the block on to the fabric as shown in Fig 4.
2 Take a block and dip the block into the ink as shown Fig 4
in Fig 2.

5 Once the hand block printing process is complete,
3 Stamp the block facing down on the fabric as shown then the fabric is then left out in the sun.

6 Clean the block and preserve it for another printing.
